The challenges of today are exhausting...

Emotional burnout is a syndrome of constant fatigue and emotional exhaustion. The syndrome is inherent in people whose work is related to communication. In today's conditions, the need to be in touch, listen to others, talk, follow and check current news has increased.
Nowadays, a significant proportion of Ukrainians work seven days a week, looking for work or opportunities to help others. Fatigue, irritation, and agitation can worsen relationships in the team, and family and even lead to illness.
WHO describes 3 main symptoms of emotional burnout:
1. Feeling exhausted, leading to sleep disturbances, reduced immunity, and problems with concentration.
2. Intellectual and emotional distance from work, accompanied by feelings of negativity and cynicism about work situations, detachment from the team, lack of motivation, and negative perception of reality.
3. Reduction of professional efficiency, which is manifested in the inability to cope with work duties, resulting in doubts about their abilities and competence.
How to make your life enjoyable so your resources do not evaporate?
1. Take a break. Even if you adore your job and wake up every morning thinking about it, everyone needs a break. A full active vacation can save you from burnout and give you strength.
2. Take care of yourself. Take 5 minutes for a cup of your favorite tea or coffee, a phone call, or your favorite music if you feel a surge of anxiety or irritation.
3. Plan your day. Start the day with a pleasant activity and then move on to the tasks at hand.
4. Praise yourself. Remind yourself of your achievements. Write down the most significant achievements of the day if you are hindered by internal perfectionism.
5. Alternate difficult tasks with pleasant ones. Overexertion during work does not contribute to the retention of resources, so over time, you begin to burn out. Plan your day so that it is balanced, pleasant, and productive.
6. Speak only positive things about yourself. Avoid destructive value judgments of yourself and others.
7. Do your favorite thing more often. Hobbies help to avoid burnout, the main thing in this process is to learn how to regain strength and recharge your batteries.
8. Be physically active. Physical activity is an effective way to get rid of burnout.
9. Be attentive. If a person is under stress, the main problem is the lack of awareness of the cause. With careful and balanced steps you will have more time to think and solve problems.
10. Consult a specialist. The reasons underlying emotional burnout are sometimes difficult to understand without professional help. Therapy is a way to maintain a healthy spirit. Emotional burnout is not only a sign of stress in the workplace, but can also cause new problems. Remember that a psychologist is not a doctor, turning to him we do not become "crazy".
In the State Institution, "TMA of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Chernivtsi region" psychologist Iryna Ishmukhametova and practical psychologist Mariana Maistriuk-Krasiy systematically conduct training on the prevention of emotional burnout among health workers.
